Psychology 859: Seminar in Quantitative Psychology:

Statistical Graphics for Data Analysis and Presentation

Seminar format; readings, video, discussion, (small) projects and presentations by all participants.

 

This seminar considers historical and contemporary developments in graphical data analysis and presentation. Some topics will include tables, graphical tables, displays of distributions, diagnostic graphics, enhanced scatterplots, multivariate displays using small multiples, glyphs, and dynamic graphics, spatial representations (including maps and the results of multidimensional scaling), and path diagrams. Background topics will include some history of statistical graphics, the development of relevant computer graphics, and current technology, including software for data analysis and web-based presentation.
